Black Design Guild is a leadership & coaching programme to help black researchers and designers in junior roles and entering mid-level roles to flourish, progress & grow into more senior roles.
Created and headed by HelloBrave, the focus is on training and supporting Black people to progress quickly in research and design roles they want.
For their first role out, they put together a prototype programme and delivered it via a retreat over the course of 3 days. The aim was to see how well it was received with a group of researchers and designers and gather feedback for the next retreat.
To give the retreat a presence for their first event, I was asked to create a logo and overall initial brand look and feel with event collateral to support the retreat.

Using an open shield and wordmark lockup, I created a visually recognisable logo that speaks to a sense of community, trustworthiness and openness.
To accompany the retreat an event programme was created to help guide the attendees through the 3 days, offering important information with a sprinkling of encouraging and thought provoking quotes.

Supporting event collateral also created to give the event presence and was deliberately kept simple so that it can hopefully be used again for another Black Design Guild retreat. Specific items were chosen to create keepsakes and make the event more personal for the attendees.
